I had originally got this idea for a cat cake from this completely awesome website! I love it and I let my daughter pick from the cakes on here what she would like for her birthday cake. She picked the pink cat head cake. It looked a bit challenging, but we did it!
We baked two round cakes and iced them together. We also had baked a regular rectangular cake and froze it to cut the ears and a raised nose part from) Cutting a frozen cake is SO much easier!
Then I used a star tipped decorating bag to use for the texture on the face. I attached the ears by digging out a little from the ‘head’ of the cake and using the icing as ‘glue’ to fuse it together. I cut a hump of a piece out for the nose and whisker part out. I used a zip lock bag to pipe on the frosting for the tongue, eyelashes and nose. I used junior mints for the eyes and pull and peel licorice for the whiskers. I also added a collar with my daughters name on it. It was the hit of the party!
Awesome looking cake… and it tasted great too!
I love that you put on a collar with your daughter’s name on it. I’m going to do that!
I made the cake and it turned out wonderful, thanks for the cake ideas!!!
