Coolest Mickey and Minnie Mouse Cakes

I made these Mickey and Minnie Mouse cakes for my twins’ 3rd birthday. I used the Wilton Mickey Face pan (I got it on eBay). I followed the Wilton directions and used a star tip to cover the cakes.

For Minnie Mouse, I added eyelashes and a bow. The bow was made from a roll out sugar cookie. I cut the dough to resemble a bow and baked it like normal. Then I poured pink cookie icing over the top and waited for it to harden before decorating it with white frosting dots. I used a picture of Minnie mouse off of the internet to get the ear to bow proportion correct.

The black frosting is chocolate that I dyed using the Wilton colors. All of the recipes for the frosting I used from the Wilton yearbooks. Chocolate buttercream for the black frosting and buttercream dyed with copper coloring for the face. To save time I used white icing in a tube for the eyes and the background areas. I smoothed the eyes and nose smooth with a clean finger dipped in cornstarch.

Covering both cakes with stars did take some time but I think the results were worth it!

  4. That’s an amazing cake. I’m trying to get a Minnie in Mickey cake that is like that but stacked on top of each other for my twin’s birthday in June. Running out of time.

  5. I am new to the cake making world but I am going to attempt 1 or perhaps two of these adorable cakes for my soon to be 3 year old son.
Please tell me how would I get Oreo cookie to stick to the cake? I presume I would have to crumble it on to a thinner layer of black icing. Is this the way? some one please help as I don’t fancy too much mess or evil looks from mothers who need to wash their child’s best frock. Thank you x

  6. I used to live in Yuba City! Awesome. My son will be 5 in 3 days. He found my Mickey cake pan and that is the only thing he wants for his birthday. Wish me luck.
