I used this website for ideas for my little boy’s second birthday cake and then got to work on this Toy Story Bed Birthday Cake. I was a bit pushed for time that weekend as just found out I had an inspection in work the next week (I’m a teacher) so did have to cheat a little. I had already bought the lettering and figurines from eBay a few weeks previous. I used a square tin to make a double layer chocolate cake for the floor (used a Belgian chocolate cake mix for this) using the chocolate frosting to cover it.
Next I used rectangle cake tins to make double layer cake for bed in sponge with a buttercream filling. I then rolled out some ready roll icing for the bottom sheet of the bed and a second layer for the duvet cover. Before putting the duvet on I used some spare sponge I had cut off to make a pillow. I used some yellow colouring to colour my ready roll icing for this! I draped the icing over and folded back the duvet cover and then added the stars and decorations.
This was really easy to make, probably not as professional as the others on this site but if you are pushed for time I made this in one evening (up til midnight!)and my son adored his cake, priceless to see his face light up!
