I’m new to cake making but I really wanted to attempt a three tiered cake. So I did and made this for my sisters 21st birthday. I made three round chocolate sponge cakes, 10 inches, 8 inches and 6 inches. I filled them with vanilla buttercream and crumb coated with chocolate buttercream before covering each with white ready made fondant. I stacked them each on the same sized thin cake boards and used dowells to support each layer. I then decorated them with fondant and the ribbons. I used a ruler for the stripes, different sized bottle lids for the spots and just cut the heart shapes by hand. In all it took about ten hours to make (it was my fourth cake though. Everyone loved it and thought she had got it professionally made!
