I made this Calculator Cake for a friend’s husband who was celebrating a big event in his career as an accountant.
The bottom cake layer was made in a 9×13-inch pan and the top layer was made in a 6×9-inch toaster oven casserole pan. The cream cheese frosting was tinted with barely a drop of sky blue coloring. Notice how that made for a light green color as the frosting itself is quite yellow.
The calculator keys are blue and red fondant shaped with alphabet/number cut-outs. The display screen is green fondant with the number 1,000,000 piped in yellow icing. Although not visible in the photo, paper strips of candy buttons feed into the back like cash register tape. To complete the theme, we decorated the cake table with chocolate coins and paper money from a game.
The message: “you’re one in a million” is definitely true for this young couple.
