I decided to try making a cake with fondant for my aunts 74th birthday. I did a 2 tier chocolate/white cake using 8″ and 6″ pans. I made 4 cakes total 2 chocolate in each size and 2 white in each size. I then used a cake leveler to level the tops and cut each cake in half. I alternated layers of chocolate cream cheese frosting white buttercream frosting to make each tier 4 layers. I then froze the cakes to make it easier to cover. Covered each tier in buttercream then rolled out my fondant and placed it over each tier. I then smoothed out the fondant and put the tiers back in the fridge. I used colored fondant and just made wiggly lines for zebra stripes and used fondat cutters to make the flowers. I used water to adhere the decorations to the cake and then finally dusted it lightly with pearl dust.
