For my girls 2nd and 3rd birthday party I made them individual cakes, so for the rest of the guests I wanted to make cupcakes that went along with the theme of the party. We were having a garden themed birthday party, so I thought some sort of flower cupcakes would be perfect. I was trying to decide how I was going to make the flowers when I saw an idea on the front of a magazine. I decided I could use assorted color candy fruit slices for the petals and spice drops(you could also use dots) for the center. My sister made the cupcakes from yellow boxed cake mix. She used a ice cream scoop to make uniform cupcakes. We frosted them with store bought chocolate icing that way I thought it would look like the dirt. We cut the fruit slices horizontally and vertically with scissors. For a tip you might want to try spraying them lightly with pam so that they wont stick to the candy. We found that the vertical cut candies fit better on the cupcakes so those are the ones that we went with. I also cut the spice drops in half and placed them in the center. They were alot of fun to assemble and your kids will love to help. They were a big hit at the party. Everyone loved them.
Very-original. I love chocolate!
