My son really wanted a green T-Rex cake for his 3rd birthday. I was not overly impressed with the pans that I found on-line. We wanted a cute T-Rex, not a mean one.
I decided to draw my own pattern on poster board and cut this cake out of a 12×18″ sheet cake. I used 3 store bought cake mixes to make to sheet cake. It took 6 large cans of store bought frosting. I added lots of powdered sugar to the frosting to make it stiffer.
I used Wilton’s black icing color for the mouth and leaf green icing color for most of the dinosaur. The blue tummy and polka dots are cut from store bought fondant.
The teeth and eye are also cut from store bought fondant. I used a star tip for the green frosting. I covered the cake board with white frosting using a star tip and making a swirly pattern.
So happy I found this – it’s my son’s 3rd Birthday and he wants a Godzilla cake! I love making these fun Birthday cakes for my kids and am excited to give this one a try. I’ll let you know how it turns out!!
