This Homemade Dragon Birthday Cake Design was actually a lot simpler than it looks! And wasn’t very time consuming either! I started with 2 10″ round cakes. I cut one in half and put side by side for the body, and the other I cut into different shaped pieces for the feet, tail, neck and head. I iced with buttercream tinted royal blue with a star tip and piped on.
I made the wings, ears, spikes along the back, face features, and horns out of fondant. Then put some edible glitter gel on the wings and ears. Also sprayed along the back and tail, and the sides of the legs with black airbrush cake spray.
It was my first dragon cake I’ve ever done and I think it turned out great! The lady who ordered it loved it!
i love your cake, well done.
My 4 year old wants a fire breathing dragon cake for his 5th Birthday. Your cake is awesome! Is there a template for the second 10″ cake that you could post to show how you cut it for the head, neck, feet and tail?
Very nice cake, thank you for the idea
