I made this Hannah Montana Guitar cake for my niece’s 10th birthday. I used 3 chocolate cake mixes, two Betty Crocker whipped butter cream frosting cans, two cans of whipped chocolate frosting and a hand full of small marshmallows.
To make my board, I cut two layers of heavy cardboard, taped together and covered with aluminum foil. I thought the shimmer of the foil would give it a rock start look.
I started by using the chocolate cake mixes and making three 9×13 cakes. For the main part of the guitar, I used two of the cakes one layered on top the other. I used a serrated knife to cut the shape of the guitar. For the handle, I cut the other cake in half long ways, layered one on top the other and using a knife, I cut the shape of the handle.
For the icing, I left one chocolate as is, one I colored black using Wilton icing colors. For the purple I put both cans of the butter cream into a large plastic bowl to color at the same time. I left a little bit for the strings and other decorations.
To assemble the cake I took one layer of each part of the guitar and placed it on my board that was covered in foil. I covered it in chocolate icing. Then I placed the other layer on top. I decorated it using pictures I saw on this site and a picture I took of a toy guitar in the store.
My niece loved it.
Do u know anywhere I could get a template of a guitar on the internet? U did a good job on the cake!
