This is an Electric Guitar Cake make to look like a friend’s electric guitar. He plays a 24 fret (those lines on the guitar) so I wanted to make it close to actual size, it wound up being 4ft long! I had to make it in 3 pieces to fit in the fridge and then assemble it on site.
The first part is the body of the guitar. It has a unique shape which I enlarged on my computer and then printed out. Cut it out so I had a template for the cake. I did the same for the neck and end of the guitar. I also went to the music store and snapped some photos to work from, this made it easier to do the detail work.
I airbrushed the body to achieve the correct color. The strings are spaghetti painted with edible silver glaze. The cake is chocolate with peanut butter mousse filling, covered in homemade fondant.
It was a big hit!
