I got the idea for this slumber party cake from this website! I made it for my neice’s 10th birthday and the kids loved it! I am just learning how to decorate cakes and it was a difficult level that was just right for me so I thought I would give it a try!
It’s just a regular 9×13 cake made with 1 box of cake mix. It is covered in a marshmallow fondant (made a few days ahead), rolled very thin (MUCH cheaper, all it costs is a bag of marshmallows and powdered sugar and it tastes great so no need to peel it off!)
The little heads, hair and hands were made from a gumpaste powder mix. I made them days in advance so I would have less work that day. I just used a toothpick and my gel food color for the eyes and nail polish.
The swirls are out of buttercreme which is also under the fondant. The bodies are just Twinkies cut in half long ways to make them a bit thinner. The heads are resting on cut in half marshmallows held in place by toothpicks.
Thanks for the website and all the great ideas!
i would love your marshmallow fondant recipe..
