Father’s Day Grill Cake

I made a 13×9 double layer cake. I used red icing on the sides and top and black icing for the trim and the words.

Next I cut a 1/2 inch square hole in the top layer of cake and iced it with black icing.

I made charcoal using small marshmallows, black icing coloring, and some chocolate syrup. Put it all in a bag and shake it up. I evenly dispensed the marshmallows in the hole. I used licorice for the grill.

I made the hamburgers out of tootsie rolls, the hot dogs out of red starbursts, and the cheese out of orange starburts. Just put each of them in a microwave safe dish and microwave them for 10-15 seconds then put in fridge for a couple of minutes to harden a little and then shape them.

This cake took around 3-4 hours to bake, cover with icing, make the “grill” and decorate. Not bad…really simple!!!
