This was made for my sister’s 40th Birthday recently. She wanted a pink and black theme. As there were a lot of guests I decided to create a 2 tier cake. I made the necklace myself out of flower paste and painted it in pearl colour to make them look real. The carrier bag was also made out of flower paste to enable it to stand up. The ring, glass and bottle were real.
I had the idea of putting the Manhattan skyline around the bottom of the cake so it was obvious what the theme was. I put black ribbon around the top and bottom to finish off and I made the feather arrangement to give the cake a feel of glamor and some extra height. The 2 bases were made out of madeira sponge and held the weight of the top cake very well.
