This Han Solo In Carbonite Cake was requested by a friend of mine for her husband’s 35th Star Wars themed Birthday Party. He is a Star Wars nut!
It was huge. It weighed about 40 lbs and was 2 1/4 sheet cakes, one chocolate with hazelnut ganache filling and one vanilla with Swiss buttercream filling.
The actual figure was made of rice krispie treats that were shaped, iced and then covered in fondant. I coloured the fondant grey, sponged on black to get in all the cracks and grooves then painted it with edible silver.
It took me about 8 hours to finish. They loved it! I think it turned out pretty fantastic.
Brilliant! Will attempt for my son’s birthday. Thanks for sharing your fantastic idea.
My husband would love that! I don’t think I’m quite that talented – it looks great.
