This homemade My Little Pony winter wonderland cake was for my daughter’s 5th birthday. The tiers are 6” & 12”. The sides are iced in pink & purple buttercream and the tops are iced in white buttercream and sprinkled with a combination of sparkling sugar and disco dust. The board is iced in white buttercream and sprinkled with the same mixture.
The bottom part of the turrets are ice cream cones covered in marshmallow fondant, and the top parts are sugar cones covered in royal icing and sprinkled with the sugar mixture. The turrets are secured to the cake with skewers. The rainbow is attached to the turrets with royal icing.
The rainbow, snowmen, snowballs, snow “table”, hot chocolate & cookies are all marshmallow fondant, made a few days ahead to dry. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but everything that is made of white fondant is painted with a mixture of white luster dust & disco dust to make them look like sparkling snow.
The trees are sugar cookies piped with royal icing and sprinkled with icing sugar. The snowflakes are royal icing. The ponies are toys (I cut out pieces of flannel for their scarves).
