Cute Homemade White Fish Birthday Cake

I made this Fish Birthday Cake for my Dad. It is a French vanilla cake and iced with homemade buttercream icing.

I baked the cake in a typical dark coat pan. I let it cool for about 2 hours (on the counter). After cooling, I cut the shape of the fish out (while in the pan).

After transferring the cake, I iced one layer. I let the cake sit for about 10 minutes and then went back to tip the cake with a Wilton’s Star Tip (#18). The bubbles and border are tinted blue with regular blue food coloring. The lips are tinted with yellow. The fish eye is a simple brown M&M.

This cake was really easy and fun to do. My Dad enjoyed it as well.
