My son asked me for a Shark Birthday Cake Idea so I went to several places and no one did one so I decided to do it myself. This is in 3 pics so I can explain how I did it and believe me it was easier than I thought and the kids at his party loved it.
I started by drawing what I had in mind on a paper. I made 2 9×13″ cakes and laid them end 2 end carved out shark, don’t worry if you have to fill in with pieces cause they won’t notice once it is iced. I then iced it and let it set for about an hour or two. I bought at a craft shop a bag and tips for icing cakes and decorated with that but found out it wasnt needed because of the tubes they sell of icing in grocery store. the color of the shark grey i mixed a black tube of frosting with a small tub of white frosting to make the grey for the body and the teeth and red in mouth was done with gel tubes I bought at grocery store.
I had a lot of fun doing it and am all ready thinking of a different one to make for next year. Oh one more important thing this is my first cake done like this and if I can do it anyone can. Good luck to all and thank you for letting me share this with you.
Thanks for the idea and the drawing of this cake .Will be making it in the next few days for my granddaughter. Thanks Denise
Copied your cake idea and it turned out great. Leave plenty of time for decorating the sides!
If you spread a thin layer of butter on the edges and then freeze it for awhile until the butter hardens it will be so much easier to decorate the cake.
