For my son’s first birthday, my three year old daughter insisted he’d asked for a Homemade Shark Birthday Cake Idea. I got ideas from the site and combined them. I started with a Red Velvet sheet cake and 1 Wilton football mold. I cut part of the tail and used it to prop the body and form the mouth.
The water is buttercream with food coloring. The shark is covered with fondant, which I painted with a brush with blue food coloring. The mouth is red gel and the teeth are candy corn. The eyes are Godiva dark chocolate covered almonds. Gummies make the fish and seaweed.
It was a real hit!

Val, that cake is amazing! You deserve to be on this site for your great creations!
Valerie, we’ve been enjoying your fun creations for quite awhile, but this Shark Birthday Cake tops all. Congratulations! Keep posting.
I am so glad my mom is in these photos being silly. She passed away only five months later. I miss her.
