My sister in law wanted me to make my nephew’s birthday cake. I’ve been teaching myself how to make cakes on and off for a few years now so he wanted a shark cake.
She found a picture of the shark on line so I star piped him grey. I put him on top of a half sheet cake cause he just wasn’t big enough. I made coral spiral. I put a sea turtle on it, octopus sting ray, some fish, star fish, all by hand and cut out with cookie cutters. I don’t have a lot of tools so I used what I had.
He had gummy fish and worms in his mouth that went over so well with the kids. They ate them while we were waiting to cut the cake. The water is homemade butter cream icing and the rest is homemade marshmallow fondant. We were at the springs for his party and it was on the picnic table. All the people that passed by just loved it, the only thing I would’ve changed is I would have put the shark on a small cake board with some supports under him cause he started to sink just a little bit. It was a hot day.
