This is a Mario and Luigi Cupcake Cake made with 2 1/2 dozen marble cupcakes. The top is iced smooth to look like a sheet cake. Some people call this a pull-apart cake. They are great for children’s birthday parties. The characters are hand-drawn using a home made “stamp”.
To make a stamp, simply print a picture of the character you want, enlarge it to the correct size, trace the black outline with piping gel that has been tinted black. Then turn the picture over on the cake and press lightly. Pull the paper off and you have an outline of the image you want.
You can then draw over your imprint with buttercream and fill it in with colored buttercream. Add a little dimension by building up the noses or hands to make them stand out a little more.
This is an easy way to draw on cakes. It takes a little time, but the result is always good.
