I made this Mario Birthday Cake for my son’s 7th birthday. This cake was vanilla with rootbear buttercream. I made the base out of 2 8″ pans. I baked the top of the cake in a glass bowl. I placed support between the layers. I covered the whole cake in corresponding colors of fondant.
The stars were also made from yellow fondant. I painted the faces on with black food coloring. The gold coins were made from white chocolate, which I painted with a mixture of gold luster dust and vanilla extract. The tube was PVC covered with green fondant. I finished up the whole cake with Mario and Luigi figurines I found at a local toy store. This cake was a hit with the kids and adults!
This is the coolest cake that I’ve ever seen! I’m so impressed. This person has mega talent. I wish I could order a cake from him/her. I’m thinking that the cake probably tastes as good as it looks. My son would be overjoyed to have a birthday cake like this for his birthday.
