Coolest Jungle Cake

I was asked to make a jungle cake for a 1st birthday.

Out of modelling paste I made one monkey for the top of the cake, two elephants, a zebra, two giraffes and a mother and baby hippo.

I made a wood effect board with the name on and a number 1.

I baked a two layer 8” cake and a 4” two layer cake. They were both filled with jam and buttercream and covered in pale blue fondant. I attached the cakes together and they were left to harden.

I now made palm trees, clouds and grass as decoration and attached this to the cake before adding the animals to the cake. I covered the board in green fondant with a small area in blue for the hippos. I then made the rocks in grey fondant and I then added the wood effect board with the name on to the front of the cake.

Finally I attached the number one to the top of the cake. Another pleased customer!
