My friend who I used to go to school with many years ago, asks me to make lots of cakes for her and I’m always up for the challenge. Well, it was due to be her grandson’s birthday and he loves Dr Who, and this is the theme of the cake he asked for. I made a Darlek out of icing and colored it in red when it dried out. I then made two monster faces and a tardiness to decorate the sides of the cake.
I made a plaque to read DR WHO which I colored in when dry and then wrote DR WHO on it with edible pen. I baked a 3 layer cake and filled with jam and butter cream and then chilled and then covered with red icing and covered the cake board with the same color as the tardis blue. I then made a small white circle to place the Darlek on so it stood out on the top of the cake and I piped a bead effect around the circle of icing on the top of the cake and I then piped a bead effect around the base of the cake.
I cut out the letters for the name and the birthday message and attached these to the side of the cake and the cake board. I cut out small blue stars and attached these to the sides of the cake, and then attached the monsters and tardis to the side of the cake. Finally I attached the DR WHO plaque.
Her grandson was very happy when he saw it.
