I made this anti-gravity beer cake because I am throwing somewhat of a surprise birthday party for my husband’s 40th birthday. The theme for the party is microbrews. The invitations went out saying, “Join us for a Hoppy Beerday.” I am going to have many types of beer chilled on ice in my row boat, a cigar table with cigars to go along with the different types of beer, a great variety of food and a hay bale circle around a wonderful fire pit.
So, this sent me on a search for a masculine cake idea, and I came across many with the floating beer bottle.
Making the Anti-Gravity Beer Cake
- I dont have a microwave so it took some time to melt some hard candy and shape the liquid.
- Then, I went out into my husband’s shop to build the base for the cake out of scrap wood. I figured it would be ok since I covered it in foil and then molding chocolate.
- The whole cake is chocolate except the pouring beer.
- The foam is made out of a white chocolate buttercream frosting.
I have never made such a cake before, but is sure was fun. I truly do know that he is going to love this cake.
