My little boy is madly in love with sharks and dinosaurs. It came as no surprise when he wanted a shark cake for his birthday.
Blue fondant covered the cake and a combination of icing and fondant made the rest. To get the fins and tail to really stick – I cut out cardboard in the shape I wanted, covered them in tin foil and then iced them. This allowed them to stick out of the cake adding real dimension and looked super cool.
Everything else on the cake was edible. The reaction? Did this shark bite? In this case, you bite the shark! Huge hit – everyone loved the shark.
I used fondant to print his name on the side to personalize it for Joshua.
