Coolest Monkey Cake

I made this monkey cake for my daughter’s 2nd birthday. I used two 8″ round pans, stacked them up and cut the shape out. I got the idea from the plates and decorations that I fell in love with.

I used the star tip to decorate, colored white icing for the pink and chocolate to make the black. (For those of you who don’t know, never use white icing to make black, always use chocolate or it will be way to bitter to eat.) You may get a straighter face if you outline it first, I was in a hurry.

I also made a 9×13 cake with a palm tree to accent. I’m not sure what else I can tell you about it, except the it was very time consuming and to make sure that you keep the icing cold while decorating or your stars won’t hold there shape, I learned that the hard way.
