This Horse Cake Design is a half sheet cake with butter cream frosting. I piped tiny brown roses on a vine for the top side trims and ran them down the sides.
The horse was taken from a blown-up print of a water color that I found online. I traced it on plain paper, then used the outline to eye-guide the drawing with a thin rose stick on the top of the cake.
Carefully, I piped an outline in brown on top of the stick drawing. Then I used a paint brush dipped in brown food color of various shades to create the shadows and other features. I re-piped over the tail and mane.
The happy birthday greeting was taken from a computer font. I practiced writing on paper with my piping bag before braving it on the cake. I always thin down the frosting enough so that it writes smoothly. One can also use royal icing.
Beautiful cake!!
The different shades of brown make the cake look amazing!
