This girlie Horse head cake is a request from a friend for her daughter’s birthday. A vanilla sponge with butter cream and jam filling. A 10″ square cut to a template with dips cut for neck, cheek , nose and face then a crumb coat and layer of chocolate fondant icing.
I used chocolate butter cream to pipe the mane round the edge then added the flowers which were cut previously and topped with a sugar pearl center each. After this I made the ear and eye. Attached them with butter cream and the bow before layering a bit more “hair”” and extra flowers. The bridle and reins are 3 lilac icing strips attached with water and covered over with extra mane and flowers then little rosette details to finish.
I was really pleased with the finished cake, especially the shaping of it. Whose a pretty pony then?
