I took several ideas of a Safari Jungle Birthday Cake off of this site and put them all together. This was a very fun cake to make and I had never done a decorative cake like this before but it turned out really well.
I just bought store frosting because it was WAY easier than making my own. I bought the food coloring gel so it wouldn’t thin the frosting out too much. For the trees, they are pretzel sticks and I made the leaves a day ahead of time. I just put more powdered sugar in the frosting to stiffen it up and put them in the freezer overnight. They got a little droopy while transporting. I should have waited till I got to the party to add them.
I swirled the blue decorating gel in to make it look like water. I also stiffened up the frosting I used for the grass a little.
Too cute! I’m looking for ideas to make a jungle themed cake for my son’s birthday and got a lot from yours!! I love the way you did the trees! Water looks great. like your idea of how you made the grass.
love your cake!
