Coolest Jungle Cake

My son wanted a jungle cake for his 3rd birthday. The bottom tier is a 12×12 square, the second is a 8 inch round and the top is a 6 inch round. I crumb coated and then iced the cakes with green icing, and then stacked them (make sure you use straws or dowels for support).

I used a grass tip with a darker green to hide the cake board on each tier. For the waterfall I just used a large round tip to outline and fill in, and then the grass tip around the edges.

The animals were all made in advance out of Marshmallow fondant and left in a cool dark place to dry. The palm trees and monkeys were made from chocolate candy melts and stuck on the sides with a dab of buttercream.

It took quite awhile to make the animals, but was well worth it.

  1. WOW! it looks really hard to make but when you described it it seems not that much hard work.
I would love to make this for my son’s 4th birthday.

  2. It’s not too difficult to make, just make sure you start making your animals a few weeks before-those little guys can take FOREVER (well it took me forever!).
