I made this Baby Block cake for my daughter’s first birthday. I used 4 square cakes, layered. I did use a cake leveling tool to ensure the cakes layered nicely.
I used a mini loaf pan cut in half and then layered for the “smash” cake. I liked the look of fondant, but don’t care for the taste, so to make this cake smooth, I dipped my spatula in hot water, dried it and then smoothed the cake. It’s also a must to do a crumb coat.
