I made this castle cake yesterday for my daughter’s 3rd birthday party today.
The main part of the cake is a square sponge with a jam filling. I covered this in ready rolled icing. I then covered a Swiss roll in icing (also ready rolled) and cut a battenburg in half, covered it in icing and placed one piece at the front and one diagonally behind the Swiss roll “tower”.
I covered ice cream cones in white chocolate and used those for the turrets. For the 2 towers at the front I cut up the tubing from the ready rolled icing and covered those before securing with green piped icing (you can buy this by the tube). I then piped the green icing onto the towers and popped on some sugar flowers and a figure I had made of my daughter out of fimo clay. The sprinkles and stars were added afterwards as was the dessicated coconut coloured green to represent grass
It didn’t take too long to make, a few hours maximum – probably took longer to peruse this site for ideas which was a godsend!!
