I made this Castle Cake for my daughter’s 5th birthday. I looked at different cakes in this web page for ideas. Thank you so much! I made two 12″ chocolate/vanilla cakes and two 8″ strawberry/vanilla cakes. I covered everything with buttermilk icing and then rolled out marshmallow fondant over it.
For the turrets, I used ice cream cones and sugar cones, all piped with colored buttermilk icing. I cut 4 parts of the cake to attach the turrets, then I inserted a tooth pick on the bottom ones and for the top ones I inserted bamboo sticks through the cakes for support. For the flowers, windows, and gate I used MM fondant. For the grass, I used dyed coconut flakes.
It was time consuming, but fun and at the end a success!
