This homemade butterfly birthday cake was for friends granddauthers 4th birthday. Two tiered white cake butter cream icing tinted yellow. 12 in round & 9in round. I made butterflies form fondant. I colored cut out with cookie cutters piped middles and dots on butterflies with royal icing (let dry a few days).
Flowers were also fondant cut with cookie cutters also air cried. Butterflies were placed on scored cardboard to create a slightly bent up wing so that they weren’t flat.
Antenna were very difficult, some broke off but cake was successful and very cute. I just loved it myself. I made the topper with a butterfly two flower and a number four made from fondant and dried. I placed them on a wooden dowel secured with royal icing, let dry, then placed on top of cake for topper.
