I used two boxed cake mixes for this Three Horn Birthday Cake. One 9 inch round, one 8 inch square, and one small pampered chef glass mixing bowl. Cut the round in half, stand it up, cut side down and stuck together with frosting.
I used the mixing bowl cake for the head, and I cut the square cake to shape the tail, legs, and to fill in any gaps in the rest of the cake. I then just made homemade frosting and frosted it all green the color my son choose. I made the fringe out of part of a cereal box, and the horns are sugar ice cream cones. The eyes are marshmallows and m&ms, the toes are m&ms.
We ended up inviting more people than we thought so I added another cake under the dino. It was just a two cake mix one layer 11×14 I think. So I frosted it blue like water and did a “seaweed” border.
I brought the cake out and both of my nephews said that they wanted dino cakes for their birthdays. One stegosaurus, and one long neck, so I have two more to make.
