I made this Happy Tree Friends cake for my friend’s birthday. She is a huge fan of the show “Happy Tree Friends”.
I made two 9″x13″ cakes and cut out the shape of the head from one and the shape of the ears from the other. The ears were white cake and the face was chocolate cake. The nose is a candy heart. The cheeks are two molding wafers. The teeth are just two pieces of gum. The black is all licorice strings.
I like using candy where I can to accent cakes. It adds more dimension to it and everyone loves picking off the candy. There are a few yellow sprinkles in the tuff of fur in the front.
For those not familiar with Happy Tree Friends, it is an adult cartoon featuring cute animals that get injured in gory but funny ways. Strange, I know. I was tempted to put a large gum ball (eye ball) in the eye socket and stick a fork in it, with red icing to act as blood. It sounds gory but it is typical of the show.
It could be used for a Happy Tree Friends fan, for someone who loves bunnies or for Easter.
