I didn’t know what a puffle was until my friend asked if I could make one for her 6 year old son’s party. So after some research I decided on using a ball pan and a mix of butter cream icing and some royal icing for the stiff hair on top and fondant for the mouth and eyes. The cake was a rich chocolate cake and went down a treat. My 3 year old was not impressed it was leaving the house and even my 14 year old stepson told me it was cool (I did end up with red hands for a day or two).
It was a work that took a few days to make, drying the fondant, making the spiky hair so that it would set slightly. On the day it was a sinch (sp?) to just plonk it all together. The look on Jamie’s face when he came with his mum to pick it up made all the hard work worthwhile!
