Homemade teen cake

I started out by making my cakes. I made a one layer 15″ hexagon cake, a two layer 8″ round cake, and a two layer 6″ round cake. All cakes were made of white boxed cake mix. I made white buttercream icing and dyed a little pink for the 8″ layer. Earlier the day I made some black and pink fondant and I got the recipes off of wilton.com. Be careful the black is a little tricky. After icing all the layers I started making my zebra stripes one at a time and placing them on my 6″ cake. To cut the stripes I used a craft cutter, they are really cheap in the craft department and very handy. To get them to stick to buttercream I lightly brushed water on the back of the stripes before placing them be carful the black will dye the buttercream so be sure you know where u want to place them ahead of time. I made the stars with a star cookie cutter. And I made the dots with different size piping tips. I then made my border with fondant balls alternating black and pink.
