I baked this Barbie Doll Birthday Cake Idea for my friend’s daughter’s second birthday. I baked 2 round plain cakes and placed them one on top of the other. I made the top most cake smaller by cutting the sides. I arranged the cut pieces on top to get that conical shape.
I applied mixed fruit jam between the pieces instead of icing. My kids love it that way. I then inserted the Barbie doll inside the cake to hold the cake pieces together.
I started off the decoration with a pink vanilla icing. Then I used mixed fruit jam for the red colored decorations. I warmed the jam in microwave for about 15 seconds so that it is easier to spread. I then put jam in icing cone and spread it across the middle pleat of the skirt. I also used jam for the pattern of the dress. I used white sugar balls for the lacing and pattern on the skirt.
My friend and her daughter loved the cake.
