My daughter was going through this Barbie stage as she was about to turn 4 and she had decided that she would expect nothing less than a barbie cake….so as I promised her and got inspired by the pictures for a Homemade Barbie Doll Birthday Cake Idea online. I started off by baking 2 Betty Crocker chocolate swirl round cakes and topping them on one another( with a filling of jam and chocolate buttercream), 3rd one I made in a jelly mould so that it looked like the upper part of the flowy Barbie dress.
I made small holes in the centre of each cake with a spoon. Next I covered the mountain like structure with Betty Crocker vanilla frosting. Let it set in the fridge. Then I inserted my Barbie (wrapped in a cling film) and covered the whole cake in fresh whipped cream pink and white stars with my icing bag. I also used some jelly sweets that my daughter had in her stock and m&m sweets to make my Barbie cake look beautiful.
I tied a pink ribbon on her hair and it worked out really well for me. My daughter was so proud when I took this cake to her school for the celebration! It was easy and worth the effort!
great and looks yummy too!
beautiful work!
