I made this M&M Second Birthday Cake for my nephew’s 2nd Birthday. I made two 9×13 cakes, one for the base and the other to carve the number two out of. I also used food coloring to make the blue frosting and decorated with M&M’s.
To make the two I just drew one on some wax paper and laid it on the cake and cut it out. For the inside of the cake I chose to make it Tye-dye. I took the cake batter and separated it into six bowls then dyed each one a different color. pored each one into the cake pan and used a tooth pick to swirl it around. It turned out really cute and it was a fun surprise when they cut into it.
The only thing to remember is once it is decorated try not to put the cake in the refrigerator or the M&M’s will loose their color. It was a really easy cake to make but everyone loved it. I making his cake this year as well.
Hi! I just had to comment on this cake! It looks amazing, and it’s not so fancy that the average mum can’t make it. Thank you for sharing this idea; I now have a glimmer of hope of being able to make a nice cake for my son! Blessings, Helen
