My 4 year old son loves “Pablo” from the Backyardigans. Actually, he pretends that he IS Pablo. I was at the local cake shop in my town and saw the Wilton Pablo Form Pan and knew right away that this was what I wanted to do. What I didn’t know was that the form pan alone would not feed all of our guests. I improvised by baking a second cake in my largest lasagna pan and then laid Pablo right on top of it.
First, I iced the bottom layer of the Pablo cake in white. Next, I iced the white background and sides of Pablo in white. Then I decorated the little penguin with all of the colors (and there were a lot). Lastly, I added the border with help from my friend at the cake shop (thanks “P”) since this was my first time ever doing a border. I was a little nervous to try it on my own. The star sprinkles were just a little something I added to bring color to that bottom layer.
This is only the second cake I have EVER decorated and I was very happy with the way it turned out. Needless to say my little man was very happy too!
Brilliant! I’m hoping to do one for my niece’s birthday. She’s turning 3.
