This cute Hello Kitty Cake was very simple to make. I baked a Betty Crocker cake mix cake in a rectangle cake tin.
I then traced an image of Hello Kitty onto a little piece of graph paper. I then drew gridlines on a bigger piece of greaseproof paper and did the old “enlarging” trick where you copy the lines in each individual square and thereby end up with a larger version of the small image. I then cut the image out and pinned it to the surface of the rectangle cake and cut out the shape of the Hello Kitty head.
I covered the cake with butterfrost icing (this always tastes nicer under sugarpaste icing). I used a ready to roll white sugarpaste and rolled it to fit over the cake and tucked in the sides neatly. I put a red ribbon around the cake and in the curves stuck it to the cake with a little apricot jam.
I then used the big greaseproof paper to see where to draw the eyes, whiskers and nose and used a little tube of black writing icing.
To make the cake a little more glamorous, I used some of the red ribbon I had put around the cake and made a big bow for the top.
Really quick and simple cake to make. Looks and tastes great too!
