My daughter just turned 5 years old and I wanted a special cake for her. I looked around and all the cakes where bored and expensive. I took the basic Wilton classes when my first daughter was born many years ago. Four days before the party I decided to make the Mickey Mouse birthday cake by myself.
I went to Toys R Us and found a nice Mickey toy for the center piece, I also used velvet stars stickers that I glued double side on tooth picks. One square cake for the decoration and a 9″ round cake for the letters. The frosting recipe was super easy and very easy to handle it. Red, blue and yellow icing colors for the frosting, tip #21 to decorate the whole cake and even the writing.
For the filing I used Dulce de Leche with home made strawberry jam. It was a lot of work but my daughter was very happy and I was very proud as a mom.
I love this cake! I have been looking for a Mickey character cake for my son’s 1st b-day and they all look the same, but this one is the only one that I would make.
My son’s 2nd Birthday is coming up in a Month and I would love to make him a special Mickey Mouse cake. Thank you so much for the idea. This cake is the absolute best for originality. Again Thank you for the idea
Thank you so much. I have been trying to figure out how to do my son’s 1st birthday cake. This is a great idea. Thank you.
