Coolest Ariel the Mermaid Birthday Cake

This Ariel the Mermaid Birthday Cake was all my two year old wanted for her birthday! She loves the Little Mermaids movie. I purchased the Ariel doll from a department store, and took her tail and bikini top off. I then fashioned her new bikini (clam) top and mermaid tail to look more like the Ariel from the movie, out of ready made roll out icing. It’s easiest to colour, and it’s texture is like playdough.

The cake was a double layer, round chocolate cake, with fresh cream in the center. I iced it with fluffy blue icing (egg whites beaten until fluffy – then a mixture of castor sugar and water that’s been boiled until its like toffee is added slowly).

The fish (designed by my 7 year old daughter) are made from mini M&M’s and regular sized M&M’s.

Sebastian and Flouder are the little plastic versions that came with the doll.

The sand is made from crushed biscuit. I thought this was the quickest easiest place to put Indiah’s name.
