I made this cake for my son’s 2nd birthday party. He just loves Mickey Mouse. I made the ears with 8″ round cake pans and made these yellow cake. I made the head with a 12″ round cake pan and made this chocolate cake.
The black icing I made using chocolate icing and lots of black dye from the our local craft store. The peach icing I used white icing and very very very little peach dye for Mickey’s face. I took a thin layer of white icing and spread it on the 12″ cake and used a toothpick to draw out Mickey’s face. I then took the black icing and outlined everything using the small star tip. Then I filled in all the black using the tip.
For the ears I just spread the icing to save time. For the peach color I used the small star tip again to fill in the face. For the tongue I used really fine red sprinkles. The eyes I just used plain white icing. The homemade Mickey Mouse cake was a hit! My son kept saying “Mickey Cake!” when he saw it.
