This is my daughters 5th Birthday Ariel Princess Cake she wanted for her birthday. I simply used 2 cake tins, a Dolly Vardon and a round which I hired from a local cake shop. I found the doll was too tall for the Dolly Vardon cake alone and I didn’t want to take her legs off.
The cake was Betty Crocker vanilla with cream and strawberry jam on the bottom cake. I purchased Ariel doll at Kmart and wrapped her in glad wrap and tied up her hair before I cut a hole in the cake. You need to be careful inserting the doll, making sure she goes straight down and not through the sides.
Icing is all butter cream and just added food colouring until I got the colour I wanted. Used a Wilton star tip for the front and free hand on the rest of the dress, added sugar flowers and ribbon as a shawl.
Cake was a hit with her, her sister and all her friends (even the boys)! It was quite easy and I am sure I will be doing more like it again.
What an amazing cake, I love the colours and it looks so very tasty, you’ve done a great job, five stars *****
