Coolest Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake

For my nephew’s birthday he wanted a homemade Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake! It took a while to do, but there are a few things that I could have done first to make it easier. What I did was bake a yellow sheet cake and then ice it with green icing and using the Wilton 21 tip, create the border. I also used the light green sprinkles on top which added a nice touch.

After that I started on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. After trying to use rice krispy treats, I settled on using Styrofoam. I really wanted to try to make the base of the clubhouse out of something edible, BUT rice krispies looked like I made a brain, and I attempted to make it out of cake, but I just couldn’t get the correct shape. So I bought a Styrofoam ball and cut it in half and covered it in red fondant (which I suggest buying it already colored b/c it’s SOOOO difficult to get fondant the correct true red shade by dying the white).

Then I used smaller Styrofoam balls for the head, all which I attached together with toothpicks. I covered the smaller Styrofoam balls with black fondant (again I suggest buying it already black) and used the left over fondant to make the neck. I did that by using a circle cutter, same with the black part of the leg.

For the yellow shoe/foot I used fondant and just shaped it to look like the shoe/foot. For the blue slide I used fondant again and just rolled it, let it get slightly harder and then attached it to the body and cake using toothpicks again. My sister had little Mickey Mouse characters, so we placed them on the cake and wrote ‘happy birthday Ryan’ on the cake and then we were done!

The homemade Mickey Mouse clubhouse cake took a LONG time to create, but overall it turned out well and he loved it and I got a ton of compliments.
