I was asked to make this Little Mermaid birthday cake for a friend that I have made cakes in the past for. She seems to always push my creativity! She sent me pics of some cakes she found online and wanted some things from one and some from the other. So here is what I came up with.
To make this cake I used two round cake pans and made two cakes for each pan so I had 4 cakes total. I used Wilton’s butter cream recipe for the frosting and mixed the colors I wanted with food coloring. The Ariel cake topper came from a local cake store and the fish were a hard sugar candy (almost like sweet tarts) I found also at the cake store.
To make the seed weed I used a couple of different size round tips to make them thick and some thinner. Then I added a border around the bottom of each cake and then I used some colored sprinkle to give it a little sparkle.
When I was asked to do this cake I was a little nervous but after I was done I was very proud of the way it turned out!!
This cake was for my daughters party. She really loved this cake. Her eyes almost popped out of her head when she saw it. It also tasted great.
